About us

We don’t have a prescriptive approach or a set price. We start with a blank piece of paper and custom-design a process to get you what you want, at a price that you are happy to pay. We wanted to offer a consultative executive search service at contingency prices.

There are many tools in a consultants’ toolbox, including business networking websites, associations, unions, business forums, and business information website companies. However, picking up the phone directly to the source of the business community is still the best way to unearth the best candidates.

    Simon evans, Director

Simon began his career working for a Financial Advisory firm in London. Following a gap year travelling through United States, New Zealand and Australia he returned to London making his first step into recruitment for a City based firm specialising in Intermediary Distribution. Initially, focussing on the broker sales market Simon broadened his client base to include National IFA firms, Networks, and Banks. After a number of successful years in London Simon decided to return to his native South West England to further his career in recruitment and be nearer to his family. Simon joined a well known Bristol recruiter who predominately worked in the contract market. Working alongside the Managing Director of a subsidiary brand Simon was responsible for building the executive search capability within the Financial Services marketplace. Simon then worked for Hanover Fox International, with offices in Bristol and London and specialising in ‘Head of’ to Board Level appointments he continued his specialism in Financial Services whilst diversifying his sector experience conducting retained assignments in the technology markets, Sport, Construction and Logistics.

Following a belated gap year in Australia to study and travel, he returned to London and became an internal recruiter for Entertainment UK – a subsidiary of the Woolworths Group – resourcing, training and managing a team in the hundreds of both temporary and permanent employees. Daniel then worked for London-based contingent recruitment companies as a Recruitment Consultant with Engineering, Social Care, Industrial and Construction. Testimonials

  • “Although I have only worked with Clearcut Consulting for around 12 months, I have been impressed with the diligence and the quality of their process. They took time to gain a good understanding of Vanguard’s UK business and culture and they have an extremely good knowledge of the UK Financial Services distribution landscape. As a result of this, all of the candidates that I have seen through Clearcut Consulting have been of high quality and two of them have joined Vanguard.”

Neil Cowell - Vanguard, Head of UK Retail
  • We tried many avenues to find a new strategic account director, generating many applications but no successful candidates. Simon was recommended to us. He spent time understanding the company and role and was good at taking on board feedback. We were delighted to fill the role with one of the initial candidates he put forward.

Alex Whitson - VouchedFor, Managing Director
  • Simon was exceptionally good at working with us to hire a senior growth role in our business – it wasn’t an easy find given we are doing something a little different in our market. Simon worked with us to help us articulate what we needed and quickly understood our business model and culture to help us find someone that will help take our business to the next level.

Kirsty Lynagh - Seccl, Chief People & Performance Officer
